Templating is a short visit, but nearly every later decision depends on it.
Why Tape Measures Alone Fall Short
Walls are rarely perfectly straight, and corners are rarely a true ninety degrees. In older homes, including many of the historic houses in Abbeville, a wall can bow enough that a top cut from simple measurements leaves visible gaps.
Templates made from thin strips, or recorded digitally, trace those irregularities directly so the stone can follow them.
What Happens at the Templating Visit
- 01
Final check
Cabinets must be installed, level and fastened. Templates cannot be made on loose boxes.
- 02
Fixtures on site
The sink and faucet, plus cooktop specifications, are reviewed so openings are exact.
- 03
Trace
Strips or digital tools record each run, and overhangs are confirmed with you.
- 04
Decisions
Seam placement, edge profile and faucet holes are confirmed before you sign off.
Have These Ready Before Templating
Keep the new sink on site and the faucet and cooktop specification sheets handy. A sink still in its box is perfect; the template maker only needs the actual bowl size and mounting details.
Decide on overhangs for seating areas in advance. Twelve inches is a common comfortable knee space at an island, but your stools and room width may suggest otherwise.
